Daring to Care

This week, we’re excited to host a variety of events that represent the goodwill and compassionate spirit of our Black Hills community. With summer slipping away and the holiday season approaching, it seems a fitting time to give back where it matters most. Through your generous contributions, hard work, and steadfast support, we can make a genuine difference.

United Way Luncheon and Day of Caring

Rushmore Hall, Thursday, Sept. 6th, Luncheon 11:30am, Day of Caring 1:00pm

Established in 1992 to promote the value of volunteerism, increase awareness of local human service agencies and schools, and demonstrate the power of people working together, United Way Day of Caring brings joy and much needed assistance to many local residents. With volunteers from many area businesses present and ready to lend a helping hand, Day of Caring is an event when our community collaborates to truly make a difference in the lives of others.

Pheasants Forever Banquet

Rushmore North/A, Saturday, Sept. 8th, Doors Open 4:00pm, Dinner 6:00pm

Raising proceeds to benefit local pheasant habitat and youth programs, the Pheasants Forever Banquet is an entertaining evening for the whole family. There will be games available for all ages, and silent auction items on display and open for bids. And don’t forget Candle Mania and the Hat Raffle during the live auction, with this year’s banquet promising to be even more outstanding than years past.

Black Hills Coin & Stamp Show

Rushmore Hall D, Saturday, Sept. 8th 9am – 5pm, Sunday, Sept. 9th, 9am – 3pm

It’s a collector’s dream! The 2012 Black Hills Coin and Stamp Club will hold a free two day showing this weekend. Visitors will be able to buy, sell, or trade their coins, currency, stamps, gold, or silver at the show. With dealers from several states in attendance, the Black Hills Coin and Stamp Show is a great time for the whole family. Experience the intrigue of these exclusive items as they tell tales of history and times past.

SDSM&T Design Wars

Barnett Arena, Saturday, Sept. 8th 8am – 5pm

Head to Barnett Arena this Saturday as some of the sharpest minds and innovative thinkers face off in Design Wars. The public is invited to view SDSM&T student teams as they put their education and ingenuity to work, tackling an elaborate surprise design challenge. Results of the challenge will be available for the public to view at 3pm, so make sure to show your support for these bright leaders. Best of luck to all teams!

BH Symphony Orchestra Fun Run/Walk

Bandshell, Sunday, Sept. 9th 12:30pm – 4pm

With gorgeous fall weather in the forecast, it’s time to gear up for the 25th Annual Fun Run! Proceeds will support the Black Hills Symphony Orchestra season, assisting the organization in their mission to bring our community quality music and valuable culture. A picnic will be held following the race, with Dickey’s BBQ providing food for purchase. To register, go to www.bhsymphony.org or call the symphony office at 605-348-4676.
