Since opening its doors in October 1977, the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center continues to be South Dakota's premier full-service convention, exhibition and performance complex. Major concert promoters, professional sports teams and business executives have all discovered that the Civic Center can meet their needs 
with professional service and competitive pricing. Located within walking distance of downtown Rapid City, visitors to the Civic Center will enjoy exploring the historic City Center area or browsing in some of the many shops and museums. There are numerous hotels and restaurants in the city, which cater to a variety of tastes and budgets. The great mid-western hospitality can't be beat! The beautiful Black Hills, Mt. Rushmore, and Crazy Horse Monument are just down the road. The Rushmore Plaza Civic Center celebrated its Silver Anniversary in 2002 and has played host to many of the country's leading performing acts and entertainment events since its doors opened in 1977. Over 20 million people have attended events at the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center in its first 29 years. With 150,000 square feet, the Rushmore Plaza Civic Center has the flexibility to host 
national touring events and major professional sporting events, as well as hometown entertainment.
